The Global Intellectual Property Center Celebrates “IP Champions”

Yesterday The Global Intellectual Property Center (GIPC) hosted its first annual IP Champions Conference to recognize individuals who make positive contributions to our world through promoting and protecting intellectual property. The event highlighted the successes of creators and stewards of IP who have enhanced jobs, innovation, safety, and access. We spoke with Rick Cotton, Executive Vice President and General Counsel for NBCUniversal about the event and one of the IP Champion award winners Professor/Director of The Annenberg Innovation Lab at USC, Jonathan Taplin. Hear what they had to say about the event, and a touching personal story about why this issue is so important to Jonathan Taplin:

We also spoke with fellow awardee Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, John Morton. See what he has to say about the importance of protecting ideas from online “counterfeiters, pirates, and thieves”.
